About the authors: Connie and Peter Roop’s fascination with lighthouses and their keepers began in 1973 when they honeymooned in Stonington, Maine. Their bestselling book, Keep the Lights Burning, Abbie, highlighted Abbie Burgess of Matinicus Rock and was selected as a Reading Rainbow Feature Book. Together the Roops have published over 100 children’s books, including Downeast in the Ocean. Peter, Wisconsin’s Teacher of the Year, and Connie divide their time between Stonington, Maine, and Appleton, Wisconsin. They are both award-winning teachers and authors.
About the illustrator: Jeremiah Savage lives in Brooklin, Maine, with his wife, Heather, and two sons. He is the Creative and Technology Manager and Digital Media Editor at Penobscot Bay Press. In his spare time, he does freelance work and numerous creative endeavors ranging from creating comic books to writing fiction to taking nature photographs of coastal Maine. He has won numerous awards with the Maine Press Association for graphic design, photography, video and web design. Before working for Penobscot Bay Press, he was a Presidential Arts Scholar with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Salem State University.
About the photographer: Bob Trapani, Jr. has worked in the field of lighthouse preservation for over 20 years. He currently serves as the Executive Director (2005 to present) for the nonprofit American Lighthouse Foundation and oversees 17 lighthouse preservation projects throughout New England. Bob is also a U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliarist and serves as a lighthouse technician for the USCG Aids to Navigation Team Southwest Harbor, Maine. In all, he has worked 18 years as a lighthouse technician for the Coast Guard. In addition, Bob has written three lighthouse books and one lifesaving service book and is an avid photographer whose interest is the Maine coast and its beautiful lighthouses.
